Talentino created this as a national SEND school career model that allows identification and successful deliverance of career activities that will help young people with SEND prosper. This concept of ‘same and different’ is something we have thoroughly developed from our work in all schools. With our model, we hope to develop the understanding of early career development, and in turn, encourage employers to contribute to the progression of early career development for people with SEND.

This model is split into two groups:

• Career SEND Group   1: for young people with SEND who typically DO NOT take Level 2 qualifications or GCSEs

• Career SEND Group 2: for young people with SEND who typically DO take Level 2 qualifications or GCSEs.

Each model organises aspects of Early Career Development into one of three categories:

• DIFFERENT: these aspects will only pertain to the young people in the designated Career SEND group

• SAME: these aspects are relevant and the same for all young people

• SAME AND DIFFERENT: these aspects are the same for all young people but will need to be delivered differently
